Archaeology X ICH Programmes
Workshop 1: The Time Capsule by Museum of Food x By My Old School
Time: 10.30am to 12pm
Ticket Price: $25 (excl. GST)
Have you ever come across a biscuit tin that holds anything but biscuits? Maybe matchsticks, family photos, or even cash? This workshop explores the meaning tin cans and food packaging hold for us, especially as designs and materials continue evolving. Hear from Rebecca, the vintage collector behind By My Old School who has come across many of such boxes, and witness how people filled them with items they treasured. Participants can take home an upcycled container of their choice, fill it with some items, and write a note to the person they imagine might find it in the future.
Museum of Food
Museum of Food is an independent non-profit for heritage food education, founded by cookbook authors Emily and Yeo Min. Through hands-on heritage cooking classes, a vintage kitchenware collection and Singaporean cookbook library, MoF seeks to preserve the past, nurture the present, and inspire the future of Singapore’s food.
By My Old School
By My Old School is a family-run vintage shop founded in 2010 by Rebecca and her dad, Winston, with collections ranging from everyday tools to collectible items and furniture. Every item in their collection has a story to tell — about the time in which they were produced, ways in which they were used, and the people who owned and treasured them. The brand also provides vintage prop rental and heritage consultancy services.
Tour: Stories in the Shards: A Folktale Tour of ArCH Square by Hafiz Rashid
Time: 2pm to 3pm
Ticket Price: $15 (excl. GST)
What stories might a broken ceramic shard tell us? At ArCH Square, where archaeological finds unearthed around Kampong Gelam sit alongside objects salvaged from shipwrecks in Singapore’s waters, storyteller Hafiz Rashid invites visitors to look beyond the artefacts and imagine the lives, journeys and stories they hold.
Using folktales as a lens through which to explore the region’s rich cultural heritage, Hafiz responds to the colours, motifs and functions of selected artefacts with stories inspired by their material and form. Each folktale sets the stage for a closer encounter with an object, weaving together the worlds of folklore, material culture and everyday life across the Nusantara.
Through this storytelling tour, visitors are invited to consider how even the smallest fragment can hold many stories: those embedded in its design, those belonging to its maker, and those shaped by the hands that owned, used or traded it. By bringing folktales into conversation with archaeological objects, the tour opens up new ways of seeing the past, reminding us that every artefact, however humble or broken, may have many more stories to tell.
Hafiz Rashid
Hafiz Rashid is an experienced museum docent & storyteller with a deep passion for the history, culture, folklore, and languages of the Nusantara (Malay Archipelago), with a special focus on textiles. He has been volunteering with the National Heritage Board (NHB) since 2013 and has performed at various events and venues such as Storyfest at the Arts House and Singapore Heritagefest."
Workshop 2: Fermenting Plants for Colours with Wild Dot

Fermentation is more than a way to prepare or preserve food – it can also help us coax colour from plants. In this sharing and hands-on session led by a paintmaker from Wild Dot, we explore how fermentation can transform and extract colours from plants, and why we sometimes prefer it over methods.
Wild Dot
Wild Dot is a Singapore-based studio founded in 2020 by Shirin Rafie and Liz Liu Yihui.
