[Ticketed] Snow Skin Mooncake Workshop

Did you know that Tong Heng is a homegrown brand trademarked for its diamond-shaped egg tarts and is one of Singapore’s oldest traditional Chinese pastry shops? Besides selling egg tarts, Tong Heng makes many other delicious pastries! Join us for an exploration of the PLAY + MAKE space and an exclusive snow skin mooncake workshop by Tong Heng’s fourth generation owner, Ana Fong and team. Create your own delicious character snow skin mooncakes and enjoy complimentary pastry treats and drinks by Tong Heng Delicacies!

Terms & Conditions:

  1. Please note the ingredient list before purchasing tickets for the workshop. Ingredients used in fillings contain traces of nuts: Lotus, Pistachio with Lotus and Chestnut with Lotus. Ingredients used in dough contain traces of egg: Rice flour, vegetable shortening and sugar.
  2. The vendor does not have a MUIS Halal Certificate. However, this workshop does not use any ingredients that contain pork or lard.
  3. Programme materials will be prepared for all participants, regardless child or adult.
  4. Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time of the programme for registration.
  5. This programme is held at two locations. Participants are to meet at Children’s Museum Singapore Ticketing Counter for registration before exploration of PLAY + MAKE space at the Discovery Room from 10am to 10:45am. At 10:45am, an announcement will be made to gather programme participants to head to Lewin Terrace for the workshop.
  6. The snow skin mooncake workshop is approximately 1 hour 30 mins, from 11am to 12:30pm. The total duration of the programme is approximately 2 hours 30 mins, including exploration in the museum.
  7. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Bubu and the Big Catch: Stories of the Southern Islands

Did you know that one of Singapore’s indigenous communities is the Orang Laut (People of the Sea)? This seafaring group has lived in Singapore and its surrounding islands for generations, shaping our rich maritime heritage. This September school holiday, join us for a fun-filled, interactive session with Orang Laut SG to discover their stories, food, and culture. Try your hand at using a bubu trap (a traditional fishing tool) and craft your own sea creatures to take home! This session is specially curated to complement the PLAY + MAKE exhibition, an imaginative maker’s space where children explore Singapore’s food heritage through hands-on activities.

Join us for a special storytelling session by Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations, as we spotlight the inspiring journey of Anastasia Tjendri-Liew, founder of Bengawan Solo and affectionately known as the Queen of Kueh Lapis. Through engaging role-play and interactive mini games, discover the passion, perseverance, and heritage behind her iconic creations. This Children’s Day weekend, explore the tastes that bring us joy through art and play! In this free drop-in activity designed by the Visual Arts Track students from National Institute of Early Childhood Development (NIEC) – Temasek Polytechnic, children will create colourful collages of their favourite foods using a variety of craft materials. Join us for a fun, relaxing session - a perfect way for kids to unwind, spark creativity, and celebrate the foods we love! This activity is specially curated to complement the PLAY + MAKE space, an imaginative maker’s space where children explore Singapore’s food heritage through hands-on activities.
