Bubu and the Big Catch: Stories of the Southern Islands
Date: 13 Sep 2025
Time: 10:00am
Did you know that one of Singapore’s indigenous communities is the Orang Laut (People of the Sea)? This seafaring group has lived in Singapore and its surrounding islands for generations, shaping our rich maritime heritage. This September school holiday, join us for a fun-filled, interactive session with Orang Laut SG to discover their stories, food, and culture. Try your hand at using a bubu trap (a traditional fishing tool) and craft your own sea creatures to take home! This session is specially curated to complement the PLAY + MAKE exhibition, an imaginative maker’s space where children explore Singapore’s food heritage through hands-on activities.
