When the Water Rose is an immersive walking performance that follows the hidden waterways of Bras Basah through botanical concoctions and live performances. Just as water continues to flow beneath the city through hidden infrastructures, it also flows within us, connecting bodies, landscapes, histories, and memories. This multisensory journey invites audiences to walk with unseen currents, as participants walk, drink, and move together, each liquid infusion acts as both ritual and archive, drawing from floral and tidal flavors to evoke the sensory memory of forgotten rivers. Directed by Pat Toh in collaboration with Ben Lim (Vagabond Mixology), Veronyka Lau, Zeha, Elden Zachery, Nasrulhaq Kamsani, Kippy and Natalia Tan.

About The Artist Village & Pat Toh

About The Artists VillageThe Artists Village (TAV) is Singapore’s first contemporary art group. Founded in 1992, the group is historically significant for its engagement with societal changes and issues. It continues to foster an ecology for artistic exchange, practice-sharing, experimentation, and collective learning today, across disciplines and borders.

About Pat Toh

Pat Toh is a cross-disciplinary artist whose practice centres the body as a site of inquiry into how we are shaped by the systems we inhabit. Drawing from the language of fitness, endurance, and physical training, she creates stripped-back performances that explore labour, femininity, adaptation, and survival. Through movement, ritual, and speculative world-building, she examines how bodies negotiate care, power, vulnerability, and ecological change, positioning the body as both medium and method for imagining new ways of being together. A recipient of the Shell–NAC Arts Scholarship, her work has been presented across Asia and Europe. She is currently an Associate Artist at Dance Nucleus.
