Celebrate iconic local heritage through a whimsical, large-scale art installation by ART-ZOO that spins a delightful new myth inspired by Singapore’s natural landscapes and cultural traditions. Lovebug imagines the tale of two endangered Raffles’ Banded Langurs who fall in love through the ritual of collecting and exchanging saga seeds as gifts, drawing on the saga seed’s nostalgic place in local culture as a traditional symbol of affection. As their bond blossoms, they become each other’s “lovebug”—a timeless term of endearment at the heart of this modern folktale.
Set amidst vibrant representations of regional flora such as nutmeg, once abundant in Singapore but now part of its history, and the mystical rafflesia, this family-friendly display inspires curiosity, creativity and care. Visitors can wander through a playful world of mythical plants and creatures that encourages a meaningful connection to Singapore’s biodiversity and stories.
