Once Upon A Time

Every legend begins with a living thing. These striking animal sculptures are crafted entirely from discarded bottles, boxes, and the ordinary refuse of daily life. Shaped by students across Singapore, the installation pays tribute to the native creatures that share this island with us. In our folklore, the mousedeer outsmarts the crocodile, the tiger watches from the shadows, and a tapir roams our Northeastern wetlands.

This work explores what remains when an animal transitions into a legend. Officially supported by Perennial Holdings and our Official Sustainability Partner, Cora Environment, the exhibit highlights ecological preservation.

About Natalia Tan

Natalia Tan is a Singaporean artist whose practice spans theatre, installation, and participatory art. Her work has been presented at venues including The Esplanade, Singapore Art Museum, and Children's Museum Singapore. At the heart of her practice is a single question: what happens when artists make work through co-creation with their audiences?

Natalia orchestrates participatory, socially engaged projects that centre circularity, sensory play, and shared making - inviting people not just to witness, but to create together.
