SNF Community Billboard Artwork

Inspired by the 1950s and 1960s Golden Age of Malayan cinema, these paint-by-number cinema billboards on Myths and Legends honour our regional film heritage and the tradition of hand-painted billboards.

Curated by Adeline Kueh, the project unites three neighbouring Bras Basah.Bugis institutions and the School of the Arts (SOTA), Lasalle College of the Arts (LASALLE), and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and their long history of interconnectedness in the art ecosystem. Conversations were facilitated with the alumni artists looking at archival images and designing these cinema billboards that interpret local folklore for this edition of Singapore Night Festival 2026 at The Cathay.

During the festival, visitors can help complete the murals on-site under the guidance of SNF volunteers. Festival-goers can also cast their votes for their favourite design via an on-site QR code or download the paint-by-number versions for their own home activity.
