Dive into the maritime world of the Orang Laut, Singapore’s indigenous sea community, in a hands-on and family-friendly programme filled with discovery and creativity! Get up close with traditional bubu fish traps and learn how coastal communities use it to catch many types of fish. Along the way, discover the fascinating marine life found in local waters and get creative by making your own colourful sea creatures to take home. Perfect for curious kids and families, this programme offers a fun and engaging way to explore Singapore’s maritime heritage while learning about the sea and the traditions of the Orang Laut community.

Orang Laut SG is a descendant-led ground-up initiative that aims to reclaim Indigenous narratives and support community members from Singapore’s Southern Islands who have been impacted by relocation. We strive to raise awareness and advocate for community and cultural preservation through art, advocacy, educational and outreach programmes.
