Step into the world of traditional pottery at Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle, home to Singapore’s last standing Dragon Kiln. This open house and workshop hybrid experience offers participants a rare glimpse into a living heritage site, where craftsmanship, trade, and material culture intersect.
Begin with a guided tour of the grounds and go behind the scenes to learn about the firing process of the iconic Dragon Kiln — a technique historically tied to regional trade networks that moved ceramics across Southeast Asia via maritime routes. As Kiln firing takes place only two times a year, participants may either witness the firing in action or explore the kiln’s interior up close.
Following the tour, participants will create their own handbuilt cup inspired by traditional latex-collecting vessels, enhanced with batik-inspired stamp designs, reflecting the shared cultural influences shaped by centuries of seafaring exchange. Finished pieces will be fired by the studio and ready for collection in 4–5 weeks.
This programme is Culture Pass eligible.
