Dari Pulau Ke Pulau (From One Island to Another) is a deeply personal exploration of migration, tracing the remarkable journeys of the artist's maternal and paternal grandparents. The narrative follows their respective odysseys from Alor Gajah, Melaka, and Pacitan, East Java, ultimately leading them to Singapore.
Rooted in rich family history and ancestral memory, preserved through cherished oral storytelling and treasured heirlooms, this work constructs a compelling visual narrative. Through a combination of illustration and moving images, it vividly reimagines the routes taken by these ancestors, mapping not only the geographical landscapes they traversed but also the profound emotional experiences that shaped their arrival in Singapore.
