In celebration of SG60 and Singapore's journey, Concordia Quartet takes audiences through the illustrious history of the Bras Basah Bugis area in a performance filled with popular songs and light classics. Drawing on the storied pasts of the precinct and National Design Centre, audiences will be treated to lovely Singaporean folk songs such as Di Tanjong Katong and Rasa Sayang, pre-war pieces used as propaganda or symbols of enduring love (夜來香, Bengawan Solo), odes to the tea dances (月亮代表我的心) and more as part of Songs from an Island.
Performances are approximately 25 minutes each
About Concordia Quartet
Concordia Quartet is a Singapore-based quartet that is managed by Resound Collective, a Singapore-based musicians’ collective and registered charity. Making their debut in 2020, the quartet consists of four prize-winning musicians – Wilford Goh, Kim Kyu Ri, Edward Tan, and Lin Juan.
With a strong belief in community outreach, Concordia Quartet has presented free-of-charge Christmas concerts at Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome; and shared the joy of the festive season through music to the aged residents of Allium Healthcare. They are also part of the National Arts Council’s Arts Education Programme, reaching out to schools in Singapore and nurturing the next generation of classical music lovers.
