The Tiger Hero 《武松打虎》 by Paper Monkey Theatre presents a captivating puppetry adaptation of the revered Chinese classic, Water Margin. The performance vividly recounts the legendary feat of martial arts hero Wu Song, who, after a spirited drink, bravely confronts and conquers a ferocious man-eating tiger on Jingyang Ridge.
Blending the intricate artistry of traditional Chinese hand puppetry with dynamic, lively narration, The Tiger Hero 《武松打虎》 delivers an engaging and interactive experience. This show is designed to appeal to both young audiences and seniors, celebrating timeless themes of courage and resilience while honoring rich cultural heritage. It masterfully evokes nostalgia and simultaneously inspires new generations through the powerful mediums of puppetry and storytelling.
The performances are co-presented by the National Library Board and HeritageSG. NLB hopes to inspire the discovery of hidden stories and facets of Singapore’s past from the collections of the National Library and the National Archives of Singapore.
