Please Do Not Touch

“Please Do Not Touch” attempts to provide viewers with an opportunity to interact with artworks in a tangible manner unlike conventional exhibitions whereby viewers are not allowed to touch the artworks. We believe that it is our innate human curiosity and nature that we are often drawn to participate in restricted situations.

Art is often something we look at rather than experience. Whenever we go into museums and galleries, we often see “Do not touch” signs and are cautioned to keep a distance. As visitors to the exhibition, the objective is to view, observe and experience the artworks. We are wary and careful not to touch any artwork or display, establishing a clear boundary between the artwork and the audience. Indeed, why is it that one cannot touch the artworks?

“Please Do Not Touch” seeks to create alternative ways of experiencing and displaying the artworks by activating the space and our other senses. The exhibition gives viewers an important role in activating the artworks. The tactile quality and interaction with the artworks play a significant role in this exhibition, forming new experiences through the interaction.
