A Librarian’s World: Daguerreotypes to Dry Plates: Photography in 19th-century Singapore
The oldest known photographs of Singapore were taken in the early 1840s, but it was not until the 1860s that commercial photography took root. Through the National Library’s Rare Materials collection, Librarian Janice Loo will highlight key photographic studios in 19th-century Singapore and share on the development of photographic technology and commercial photography. About the Speaker Janice Loo is a Librarian with the National Library, Singapore. Her responsibilities include collection management and content development as well as research and reference assistance on topics relating to Singapore and Southeast Asia.
