Trial Potter's Wheel (2 hour session)
Saturday (23 May): 2pm - 4pm

Hand building & Potter's Wheel (3 hour session)
Saturday (9 May): 2pm - 5pm

Discover the art of pottery-making at Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle through a series of hands-on workshops designed for beginners and curious makers. Participants can choose between a 2-hour trial session focused on wheel throwing, or a 3-hour workshop that combines both handbuilding and the potter’s wheel.

Guided by experienced instructors, participants will learn fundamental techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab-building, before trying their hand at shaping forms on the wheel. These skills echo long-standing ceramic traditions that supported everyday life and maritime trade across the region, where functional wares like bowls, cups, and storage vessels were essential onboard ships and in port communities.

Each participant will create their own ceramic pieces — from mugs and penholders to bowls or small vessels — with all materials provided. Finished works will be glazed and fired by the studio, ready for collection at a later date. No prior experience is required.
