Yes, You Can! - A Design Adventure for Kids

Date: 1 & 2 Nov 2025

Nurture your child’s inner designer through a hands-on challenge that sparks curiosity, courage, and creative thinking! In this immersive, playful experience in the PLAY+MAKE space at Children’s Museum Singapore, children will get to design creative solutions using surprising materials such as slime! They will get to think outside the box, explore bold ideas and activate their innate designer instincts. Nothing is impossible – the limit is one’s imagination! Children who complete a challenge will receive a STEM Challenge Cards Set sponsored by the James Dyson Foundation (while stocks last). This is a satellite event of the Design Education Summit 2025 that is co-organised by Children’s Museum Singapore and DesignSingapore Council with support from the James Dyson Foundation.

Duration: Approximately 45 mins

Breakdown of Sessions and Visit Windows:

11:00am – 12:45pm Museum Slot

2:00pm – 3:45pm Museum Slot

4:00pm – 5:45pm Museum Slot

Note: You may choose only one session, and your museum visit must take place within the same overall timeslot.

Terms & Conditions:

  1. The programme is free, but pre-registration is required.
  2. Participants are to meet at the registration table beside the Ticketing Counter before entering PLAY + MAKE space at the Discovery Room.
  3. Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time of the programme for registration.
  4. Latecomers may have their slots released to those on the waitlist.
  5. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Due to space constraints, only one adult can accompany each child participant.
  6. Adult supervision is essential as sharp tools, small parts and slime will be provided. An apron will also be given to each child participant.
  7. The total duration of the programme is approximately 45 minutes.
  8. Parental tips will be provided upon registration - it is recommended that accompanying adults read through this guide before coming for the programme.

In this free drop-in activity designed by the Visual Arts Track students from National Institute of Early Childhood Development (NIEC) – Temasek Polytechnic, children will create colourful collages of their favourite foods using a variety of craft materials. [Ticketed] An Excursion to Nanyang Sauce Brewery

Did you know that every single drop of Nanyang Sauce is naturally hand-brewed and a family secret recipe passed down through generations? Join us for an exploration of the PLAY + MAKE space and hop on a bus to a guided tour by third generation Nanyang Sauce Family member who will bring you on a behind the scenes private tour of Nanyang Sauce Brewery. From vintage terracotta vats to private living museum, experience the sights, sounds and smell of the fermenting soy sauce. All participants will also receive a set of 2 bottles of mobile Nanyang Sauce keychain as a memento.

[Free Drop-In Activity] Grandpa Yeh’s Journey South

5 & 6 Dec 2025

Join storyteller Jeremy Leong as he shares the heartwarming tale of Grandpa Yeh, who leaves Swatow, China with only a family rice cake mould and builds a new life in Singapore. Through the making of png kueh, a traditional Teochew rice cake, Grandpa finds comfort, connection, and the strength of family bonds. This storytelling session highlights resilience, heritage, and tradition. A sign language interpreter will be present for the session on 6 December, in line with our commitment to inclusivity.

Join us for an exploration of the PLAY + MAKE space and hop on a bus to Mr Bucket Chocolaterie at Dempsey for a chocolate workshop and learn all about the world of chocolate as well as make your very own Prawn Keropok Snaps, one of Mr Bucket’s best-selling local inspired chocolate items in celebration of Singapore’s rich food heritage! All participants will be making 2 packets worth (180g) of Prawn Keropok Snaps, receive a Mr Bucket spatula to take home and a $5 dining voucher. Make this an unforgettable chocolatey fun family outing!

Bubu and the Big Catch: Stories of the Southern Islands

Did you know that one of Singapore’s indigenous communities is the Orang Laut (People of the Sea)? This seafaring group has lived in Singapore and its surrounding islands for generations, shaping our rich maritime heritage. This September school holiday, join us for a fun-filled, interactive session with Orang Laut SG to discover their stories, food, and culture. Try your hand at using a bubu trap (a traditional fishing tool) and craft your own sea creatures to take home! This session is specially curated to complement the PLAY + MAKE exhibition, an imaginative maker’s space where children explore Singapore’s food heritage through hands-on activities.
