Set on former coconut plantations where attap-roofed kampongs once thrived near seaside bungalows and mansions for the wealthy, Joo Chiat is an exciting mélange of culture, flavours, and architecture and was given conservation status in 1993.

Explore its Peranakan legacy and learn about the lovely pre-war architecture demonstrated in row upon row of colourful two-storey shop and terrace houses adorned with ornate façades, intricate motifs, and ceramic tiles.

Highlights include Everitt Road heritage tiles, the Ernest Zacharevic murals, Kim Choo Kueh Chang on Joo Chiat Place, the Kuan Im Tng temple, the Sri Senpaga Vinayagar Temple, and the Tembelling Road & Koon Seng Road shophouses as well as the delightful ""stilt houses"".
