Recognised as a Steward of Intangible Cultural Heritage by the National Heritage Board in 2020, Baba G.T. Lye is a cherished figure in the Peranakan community.

Join us for a special session hosted by Baba Alvin Tan, Founder and Artistic Director of The Necessary Stage, as Baba G.T. reflects on his illustrious journey in wayang Peranakan—the unique world of Peranakan theatre.

This is a rare opportunity to hear personal stories and insights from a master performer whose work has helped preserve and enliven this treasured cultural tradition.ˆ

The Peranakan Association Singapore is charged with the mission of preserving and promoting Peranakan culture. The Association and its activities are run by an elected committee of volunteers and primarily funded by donations. Amongst its outreach efforts are The Peranakan Magazine, published twice a year, and The Peranakan Voices, a choral group that engages through music and ‘live’ performances.
