Stories of our Spices

by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore
1 - 25 May • 09:00am

An SG HeritageFest exclusive! Check out this pop-up exhibition on the spice trade in Maritime Southeast Asia. Discover how the spices we taste and see today journeyed to us via the maritime trade routes of the past.

Stories of our Spices
What are spices, and where do they come from? How do they smell and look like? How do we use different spices in different cuisines, or even beyond the culinary world?

Come and visit this interactive, self-exploratory exhibition, to discover fascinating facts about spices and their journey to our shores, via the maritime trade routes of the past.

Check out spice and food-related artefacts and gain a deeper appreciation for the tools used to process and release the flavours of various spices.

This pop-up spice exhibition is only available for a limited time at the Singapore Maritime Gallery, during SG HeritageFest.

Be sure to explore the rest of the Singapore Maritime Gallery too! It’s been recently refreshed, with a new maritime heritage zone, “Tides of Time”, tracing Singapore’s maritime beginnings to as far back as the 3rd century.
