What sweet memories do you have of gula melaka?

In this multi-sensory food and heritage appreciation workshop, join us on an adventure down memory lane to discover our ancestral connectedness and time-honoured regional traditions around gula melaka.

Hear stories from across Southeast Asia about this natural sugar, create your own sweet treats and food art, and share your experiences and family recipes to co-create a unique communal Artscape!

Brought to you by artists & researchers: Akai CHEW (SG), Arie SYARIFUDDIN (ID), Natalia TAN (SG), Sayaka SHINKAI (JP/DE).

- Workshops will be conducted in English. Please choose one timing to attend.
- Participants may be seated on floormats, and will be handling foodstuffs.
- Please bring your own hand sanitiser. There is a toilet available onsite.

All ages are welcome and no prior experience is required.

Participants under the age of 12 will require parental supervision.

The Artscape (co-created art exhibition) is open for visits by appointment only, from 26 May to 1 June, 3-6pm.
