This guided trail through Sembawang uncovers layers of maritime life, belief, and defence shaped by the sea. We begin at Masjid Petempatan Melayu Sembawang, exploring the mosque grounds and the practice of tanam uri, reflecting intimate traditions tied to land and community. Passing the old gates of a former seaside bungalow, we trace the vanished coastline before walking along Eagle Point, where the sea occasionally returns discarded ritual objects, offering insight into coastal beliefs.

The trail continues to Beaulieu House and the Sembawang Jetty, unpacking the naval base’s military and commercial history. We explore the black-and-white houses of Gibraltar Crescent, enter a hidden air raid shelter, and conclude at an old naval bar, where participants handle real naval artefacts and hear stories from life at sea.

This programme is Culture Pass eligible.

Hidden Heritage

Hidden Heritage runs immersive, story-driven heritage tours that uncover forgotten corners of Singapore. Through exclusive access enabled by partnerships with government agencies, private landlords, and local businesses, we reveal hidden stories few have ever heard. We also create content to engage audiences through heritage reels, short films, and storytelling. We collaborate with organisations, design educational trails, and deliver hands-on experiences that connect younger audiences with Singapore’s lesser-known history.
