Friday (1 May) - Sunday (24 May): 10am - 12pm | 12pm - 2pm | 2pm - 4pm | 6pm - 8pm

Explore the intersection of language and trade in this guided art jam session focused on maritime calligraphy. Participants will be introduced to the history of Chinese, Indian, and Arabic scripts that served as vital forms of communication along the ancient maritime Silk and Spice Routes. After learning the fundamentals of Chinese calligraphy, attendees will contribute to a collaborative artwork that incorporates motifs inspired by trade, travel, and the sea. This workshop offers a creative space to reflect on how seafaring connections have enriched Singapore's diverse cultural and linguistic landscape, turning script into a visual record of our port heritage.

This programme is Culture Pass eligible.

Baroque House (Sonia)

Since its founding and discovery, Baroque House has supported many local musicians and artists in the pursuit of art for arts’ sake and supplying visiting historians, architects and urban planners with unsolved historical mysteries for a sleuthing adventure.

The shophouse building itself is a 107 year old architectural treasure in Little India that was discovered by Director and Proprietress Sonia Ong in 2020. She uses it to educate the public on area history and culture, artistic detail, shophouse history, preservation and conservation.

With a multi-storey art gallery and a theatrette with a Baldwin Red Baby Grand, Baroque House continues to encourage the development of niches with the aim of providing added artistic and cultural diversity within island Singapore.
