Step inside The Gentlemen’s Press for an intimate studio walkthrough that traces the evolution of printing from hand-set type to mechanical presses. This guided experience explores how printed matter historically travelled through trade routes and ports, shaping Singapore’s visual language. Participants will examine a curated selection of antique lettertypes, vintage advertisements, and historic graphic design blocks while being introduced to traditional techniques like letterpress printing, foil stamping, and embossing. The session reveals how these historical methods continue to influence contemporary stationery and print design, serving as a living record of our cultural and trade heritage/

The Gentlemen Press

Where Imagination Meets Ink. What began as a graduation excursion to New York in 2011, where we participated in a letterpress workshop, soon transformed into something much more significant. We found ourselves purchasing our inaugural piece of equipment – a 70-year-old Vandercook SP15 proof press weighing over 300 kilograms – on eBay and shipping it back from the US to the shores of Singapore. Remarkably impulsive, wouldn’t you say? However, as the saying goes, the rest is history. Over the years, The Gentlemen’s Press has undergone continuous evolution, yet one thing remains constant: our unwavering passion for creating high-quality prints. Here’s to many more years ahead! Design. Print. Repeat.
