Vega is a majestic wooden cargo ship built in Norway in 1892, renowned for her strength and ability to carry exceptionally heavy loads. Now 134 years old, she remains a fully operational vessel and a living link to traditional shipbuilding and maritime skills, frequently calling at Singapore. Originally designed to transport bulk cargo through treacherous seas, Vega proved her resilience during the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, delivering vital food and medical aid to hard-to-reach communities.

In celebration of the maritime heritage theme at Singapore HeritageFest 2026, the Singapore Maritime Gallery will host a limited-time pop-up exhibition exploring Vega’s history, her ties to Singapore, and her ongoing humanitarian missions in Southeast Asia. Visitors can also purchase exclusive Vega merchandise from 1-3 May 2026, with all proceeds supporting her continued operations and charitable work.
