Jejak Silam: Discover Archaeology

Participants will learn archaeology basics through a simulated excavation and documentation process using real artefacts from Kampong Gelam. The workshop ends with a sharing by artist Fazleen Karlan on how archaeology inspires her sculptural installation for MHC’s revamped galleries.

Discover Singapore archaeology with an archaeologist and experience its connection to us through contemporary art. Families will be able to understand archaeology and its processes through selected artefacts and an interactive parent-child activity.

The programme is facilitated by artist Fazleen Karlan and Michael Ng, resident archaeological researcher at ArCH Square - Singapore's first archaeology and intangible cultural heritage centre.

 

Malay Heritage Centre

The Malay Heritage Centre (MHC) provides wonderful cultural exposure and learning opportunities for people of all ages and interests. Situated within the Kampong Gelam precinct, the Centre acts as a vital heritage institution for the Malay community in Singapore.
