Step into the world of popiah, one of Singapore’s most beloved heritage dishes, in this immersive experience at Kway Guan Huat Joo Chiat Popiah - the birthplace of traditional popiah skins since 1938. In this engaging one‑hour experience, witness the mastery behind paper‑thin popiah skins as they are expertly spun on a searing hot griddle, uncover stories of Joo Chiat’s rich Peranakan heritage and discover how food traditions connect generations. Participants will also get hands‑on by wrapping their own popiah using time‑honoured recipes and explore vintage tools and stories from Singapore’s hawker past. Perfect for families, friends, students, tourists and locals alike, this experience offers a delicious and meaningful glimpse into Singapore’s living food heritage.

This programme is Culture Pass eligible.

Kway Guan Huat Popiah

At Kway Guan Huat Joo Chiat Popiah, we take great pride in our long family tradition of making popiahs in Singapore. For over 80 years, we have been making popiahs the traditional way, painstakingly following a family recipe handed down from our forefathers in Fujian province, China.
