Step into Singapore’s coastal past with Laksa Siglap, a rare dish from Kampong Siglap’s fishing villages. In this hands-on sensory workshop, families will tear fragrant herbs, smell kerisik (toasted coconut), watch fish paste being pounded, and learn a Malay fishing song “Ikan Kekek.”
Guided by culinary custodians Emylia and Minh, families will explore how traditional recipes act as living archives, preserving the rhythms and knowledge of coastal life. Taste* small portions of the thick Laksa Siglap broth and discover how culinary heritage connects communities, fishing practices, and Singapore’s maritime history -bringing vanishing coastal traditions to life through flavour, story and play.
*Note: Tasting portions are prepared in a halal kitchen and contain fish. Programme is recommended for ages 6 – 12 and their caregivers.
