Meeting Point: Asian Civilisations Museum

Journey through Singapore’s maritime past along the historic Singapore River, where trade, migration, and community life once converged. This two-hour guided walking tour traces how the river served as the cradle of Singapore’s early prosperity and cultural exchange.

Participants explore waterfront landmarks where merchants traded goods, migrants first arrived, and maritime communities built places of worship reflecting their hopes for safe passage across the seas. Stops include the Singapore River quays, Thian Hock Keng Temple, and Nagore Dargah, highlighting the multicultural seafaring networks that shaped early Singapore.

From bumboat operators and dockworkers to storytellers and entrepreneurs, the tour brings to life the everyday individuals whose resilience and enterprise transformed a trading settlement into a modern global port city. Led by heritage-trained guides from Let’s Go Tour Singapore, the experience connects places with people’s stories, revealing Singapore’s enduring maritime spirit.
