Hydrographic or nautical charts are an important part of maritime heritage. The earliest charts were produced in the late 13th century.

Nowadays, all ships are required by international regulations to carry nautical charts on board before they are allowed to set sail.

To celebrate the maritime heritage of Singapore, this talk presents a selection of historical charts of Singapore and the stories related to them.

The stories are organised around four main periods of Singapore’s history, starting with the modern founding in 1819 and the 19th century. This is followed by the WWII period and the modern-day Republic.
