Kampong Life – Gotong Royong

Fun and interactive programme will be enjoyed by all ages of audiences because of the colourful Malay Kampong scenes, a flash back with hustle bustle gotong royong concept with the kampong props, songs, dance and interaction of joget towards the end of the programme.

Saturday (23 May): 7.30pm - 8pm

Step into a lively kampong‑style setting and experience the warmth of Malay culture and tradition through an immersive dance performance inspired by the spirit of gotong‑royong (community cooperation). Set against the atmosphere of a traditional village, the performance weaves together music, movement and meaningful symbol s- such as the resonant beats of the kompang and the welcoming gesture of the tepak sireh - to convey hospitality and togetherness. Beyond watching, audiences are invited to participate through interactive demonstrations and a communal dance segment, bringing performers and visitors together in a joyful celebration of heritage, connection and shared community spirit.

Sri Warisan is a performing arts company founded by renowned cultural Medallion recipient, Madam Som Said. Sri Warisan, formed in 1997, is one of the pivotal forces in Singapore’s Malay dance scene. Blending rich traditional forms with contemporary techniques is Sri Warisan’s trademark. ​

Staging more than 65 local productions with the support of the National Arts Council (NAC) Singapore. Providing arts education and enrichment to students at more than 300 schools. Participating in more than 100 international events and festivals in Belgium, China, France, Greece, Holland, India, Italy, Japan, Korea and United States of America.​
