Story of the Singapore River

by Bhaskar's Arts Academy
2 May • 06:30pm

If the Singapore River could speak, what stories might it tell? We travel down memory lane to the river where it all started, sharing tales of the river when it flowed in all its glory, developments along the river when Sir Stamford Raffles transformed it into a bustling trading post and the massive clean up after, establishing it into a scenic landmark.

This performance will be presented at HOMEGROUND @ ACM Green.

Saturday (2 May): 6.30pm - 7pm

Witness a powerful multi-cultural performance that uses Odissi dance to narrate the life of the Singapore River. Set to live music featuring the Indian flute, Chinese drums, and the Malay Oud, the choreography depicts the river's journey from a source of nourishment to a congested trading hub and its ultimate restoration. Led by expert dancer Indu Vijay from Bhaskar’s Arts Academy, the performance takes place along the riverbanks, inviting the audience to share their own tales of the water. This interactive experience encourages onlookers to move and dance with the performers, turning history into a shared communal celebration.
