Uncover the Singapore's maritime story spanning from the 3rd century to today. Trace the evolution from ancient trading vessels to today's sophisticated global supply chains, discovering how Singapore has remained at the heart of maritime commerce. Learn about world-changing events, including how the 1603 Santa Catarina incident off Singapore's shores became a pivotal moment that influenced modern international maritime law. Explore fascinating exhibits featuring rare archaeological artefacts from shipwrecks that reveal Singapore's crucial role in regional trade long before colonial times.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), established in 1996, drives Singapore’s development as a global hub port and international maritime centre. In 2026, as MPA marks its 30th anniversary, the Singapore HeritageFest 2026 spotlights Maritime Heritage. MPA has initiated collaborations with our partners to curate a series of programmes spanning vessel visits, guided tours, talks and fun lifestyle activities—bringing Singapore’s rich maritime story to life for all.

Storytellers Hafiz Rashid and Syazwan Majid (Ambin Ubin) shares tales of fascinating marine creatures found in local waters. Participants then learn to craft marine animals using daun mengkuang in a hands-on workshop facilitated by Ambin Ubin facilitators.

COASTAL LIVES: Stories of the Sea – An Excursion to CMSG and CCM

COASTAL LIVES is a living heritage experience for families to discover Singapore’s maritime past. Starting at Children’s Museum Singapore with batik stamping, participants continue by bus with audio stories to Changi Chapel and Museum for a laksa heritage experience.
