Friday (1 May): 11.15am - 12pm

Step into Singapore’s coastal past and discover the story of the disappearing kelongs. In this interactive family session, explore how these offshore wooden fishing platforms once worked with the tides to trap fish.

Led by community arts collective C.O.O.E., families will get hands-on with traditional fishing tools, examine a real fishing net and learn simple knotting techniques used by coastal fishermen. Discover fish commonly found in Singapore’s waters and hear stories of life at sea.

Through storytelling, touch and making, families will decorate their own fish shapes to take home—while uncovering the knowledge and ingenuity behind Singapore’s maritime heritage.

Recommended for ages 6 – 12 and their caregivers.
