A collaboration between MPA, Singapore Maritime Heritage Interest Group and NUS Seafarers.

Vega is a historic wooden sailing vessel built in Norway in 1892, and a pioneer in low-carbon shipping. She makes a special appearance at Marina South Pier over the long Labour Day weekend as part of Singapore HeritageFest 2026, which spotlights maritime heritage. This rare programme offers visitors the chance to board a fully operational cargo ship—unlike a static museum exhibit, Vega is still actively sailing and delivers humanitarian supplies such as medical, IT and educational materials across Southeast Asia. Participants will discover fascinating details about the vessel, including the size of her sails and her impressive structural design, while gaining insight into the skills and teamwork required to operate and maintain her today. The guided tour covers both the main and lower decks, showcasing where the crew work, dine and rest, and includes an interaction with the captain, who will share stories from Vega’s ongoing missions.
